BIJUTSU TECHOU, monthly art magazine, December 1998, Bijutsutechou, P193-194 "From Exhibition 3" Museum City Fukuoka 1998 Diary of Fukuoka Art Project, text by Makoto Murata (art critic) This is 10th attempt setting exhibition among the big city Tenjin, Fukuoka. Featured this year were artists who had stayed a month and had open studios, and then placed their artworks in the city. The volunteer organization faced many problems especialy about funds because of the severe recession. I interviewed and researched them carefully to consider the situation of contemporary art industry nowadays. (black box) Rica Takashima: Born in Tokyo. Graduated from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts in 1989. Produces an art event named "Aozora Art" from 1994 at Harajuku Perestrian Street, Tokyo and many places. photo; previous page and right, "Multiple Request Gallery" she produced paintings based on the request "What is precious to you?" that was submitted to numerous people, and these artworks were exhibited using the entire "Canal City Hakata," a huge fashion mall near Hakata Station. photo; person in right, Artist Rica Takashima is setting her works. |
