"Kids Art World Aomori 2000" opening gala.　 All participating artists joined!

"Kids Art World 2000" was held in August 12 through 27, 2000.
The following is a brief summary of workshops, an integral part of this comprehensive art event.

What did children discover as they took part in the event filled with freethinking artists and their works?
Let's find out how kids expressed themselves via art, in an atmosphere where pretentiousness and formality were the last things to come to anyone's mind.

August 10-11; 17-20, 2000.
ORIKOMI ART
Shin-machi Mall and Yanagi-machi Mall
Rica Takashima (contemporary artist), lecturer
In this workshop, participating children interviewed local merchants and produced creative newspaper inserts about them, which were later home-delivered to Aomori households as a part of local newspaper.

Other events include "Slide Lecture" by Yoshitomo Nara (contemporary artist) and "Who's Miura?" by Rica Takashima.

The most intriguing question to be asked, I would say, is how the spunk and creativity that were clearly on display here will have a tangible consequence in the new century.
